This week Liam did the following:

* learned the next of God's Rules: "Show you love God more than anything or anyone."

* began to learn the 8th Catechism question: "Name these three Persons. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

* began to learn his next Scripture memory verse. It is Romans 12:21, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

* practiced making the letter I and generated an I word list.

* enjoyed books such as, "Inch by Inch," "Invitation to the Butterfly Ball," and "Curious George Goes to an Ice Cream Shop."

* began learning some simple Italian words using a new language program. He learned that "la casa" means house in Italian and really likes to say the word "la casa" repeatedly! :)

* began elementary geography study focusing on the rooms of our house.

* enjoyed ice cream sandwiches and ice cream sundaes. We now know that he would rather eat whipped cram than just about anything dessert beneath it. Aine, on the other hand, will typically NOT eat a food if it has whipped cream on it. (The one exception here is when the whipped cream is on vanilla wafers---then she likes it! Go figure!)

* counted independently to fifteen counting a variety of objects.

* Liam began learning the first of God's Ten Best Rules, "Serve only the one true God."

* Liam reviewed the first 7 Catechism questions.

* Liam reviewed the first 3 scripture memory verses.

* Liam learned some new songs/rhymes: "If You're Happy and You Know It" and "Peter Hammers."

* Liam tasted honey on animal crackers and decided that he agrees with Winnie the Pooh! :)

* Liam practiced making the letter H and generating a list of H words throughout the week.

* Liam enjoyed a variety of books from home and the library. Some new favorites include "Old Hat, New Hat," "The Hair Book," "Harry the Dirty Dog," and "A Book of Hugs."

* Liam demonstrated understanding of the opposite concepts of old and new, and described the differences.

* Liam was introduced to God's Ten Rules (Commandments) this week. This will begin our use of a coloring book explaining how God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses for all of God's people to follow. We will continue this study for a while.

* Liam began learning Catechism Question #7: In how many persons does this one God exist? In three Persons.

* Liam began learning a new Scripture memory verse. It is I John 3:16, "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us."

* Liam learned several new songs/rhymes including "Grandma's Glasses" and "Gobble, Gobble," which was just in time for beginning to learn about Thanksgiving.

* As usual, Liam practice making the letter G and generated a list of G words as we did activities and read stories throughout the week.

* Liam enjoyed a variety of books including "A Garden Alphabet, "God Bless Me," and "My Grandma's Chair."

* We are planning to make Gingerbread Men as part of our Christmas holiday baking. At the local grocery store we also found a baking mix for "Googleberry Muffins," which we will try sometime, when we do not have so many baked goods around the house.

Yes, that is what I am! As much as I tried to ignore it much of Tuesday morning, I was coming down with what seems to be a nasty flu bug. (I guess I was only resistant to American flu bugs and these British ones just slipped through my defenses!) By Tuesday, evening it was apparent that I was too ill to care for the children on Wednesday, so my loving husband stayed home to tend to me and the little ones. Feeling worse even on Wednesday we sadly had to cancel out on the couple of families whom we had invited to celebrate Thanksgiving with us for Thursday. :( So we had no visitors, no turkey dinner, and nothing but penetrating rain on Thursday. BUT I WAS thankful to be feeling somewhat better, finally. Unfortunately, since Friday did not bring as great an improvement as we might have hoped, we had to cancel our plans to go to Scotland for the first time today! :( I am still not back to normal and am extremely exhausted, but I can tell I am on the mend and we are trying to spend the day having fun anyway. We thought we might put up the Christmas tree, but I don't feel quite that ambitious yet, after all.

So I thought I might update the blog a bit and say that I hope everyone else enjoyed their time off with family for the holiday! Happy Thanksgiving...late!

Some people start hitting the coffee at a young age with other vices. Some hit coffee once they reach college. Others never touch the stuff. I thought that I was always in the latter category. I can count the number of cups of coffee I had, before 30, on one hand, much to the dismay to Mom2 when she was jones'ing for some in my apartment.

Now that I am 30, I gave it one more try when I took my wife out for a nice date. (I was just trying to cozy up to her emotions.) England serves Demerara with coffee at nice establishments. This sugar variant actually takes the nasty bitter after taste away, much to my pleasure. Funny how new cultures introduce the little things into your life. Makes me think of how the British explorers felt when they discovered new things around the world and brought them back home.

Well, getting old is rough, but atleast now I will be awake to see it...
