Good News! We Haven't Washed Away...Yet!

Yes, we are are still here, despite the deluge outside. The water level has not receded much since the flooding 1+ weeks ago, so it will not take as many days of constant downpour to flood again. This experience is providing me with a fresh, new perspective on rain. We were promised a rainy season in the winter, and we are not disappointed. ;)

Here is a synopsis of what the rainy season is like...

Drenching
Outgushing
Wind-riding
Never-ending
Pounding
Overflowing
Unrelenting
Raging

But inside, all is calm and dry. :) I think I will go brew a cup of tea and enjoy a biscuit or two. Cheers!

We’ve been getting around 1.5-2 inches of rain a day the past few days. Luckily for us it drains quite well. The rain gutters are routed down a pipe away from the house, and sometimes that looks like a fire hose. Ah monsoon season in Hawaii! It’s even cold (for us) in the low 60s at night and barely reaching 70 some of the days. It’s raining so hard now I can’t see downtown (my office window overlooks, yes I’m goofing off at work, it’s ok, it’s part of my lunch hours). I can only assume that it’s been wiped out by a Tsunami, and that the warning sirens got shorted out by the rain.
