Wow and I thought we had it rough with cats at our door. There are chickens in the ‘hood but they seem to stay our of our yard, probably the cats and dogs keep them away. Some goats, but no big farms close, they are mostly at higher elevation to keep the cows happier. Whenever we go thru Waimea (about 4,000 feet) I tell the cows how happy they should be, and tell them about how we saw black cows in south dakota on an 108 degree day on our trip. 125 to 135 is a tasty rare, I imagine those cows were ready to chow down on!

If that happened here, it would make international news. You would see whole towns under water and national emergencies declared. England has not see weather like that since…umm…last summer:)

I am starting to think that we should move to Hawaii. Have a spare room?

Rain day: We had so much rain we got a day off work! It rained 25 inches over 3 days. It was like a hurricane downpour for hours. To give a number that is even scarier than I thought I did this calculation for our yard which is one acre:
(43 560 (sq ft)) * 25 in = 678 857.14 US gallons
That’s right, over 3 days 678 thousand gallons of water fell on my yard. I’m glad we live on a volcano with good drainage to the ocean. I can’t describe the rivers and lakes that we diverted to the neighbor’s yard (an empty lot). I can’t afford not to sell bottled water!
